The heart PVCs being number one and having the broadest range of causes. That led me to increase carbs, cut out coffee, and dig in on electrolytes. Increasing carbs went down in the form of including more processed foods and served the other purpose of getting rid of any stress related to me being “paleo enough.” So, for february up until now I pretty much have been eating what I want with no particular dogma attached to it. Suffice it to say I put 5 pounds back on and have had a return of sinus issues.
Caffeine was not a cause or contributing factor, I saw no increase or decrease in the events on decaf or full joe. Decaf fucking sucks. I did cut out salt and have no plan to put it back in, I think there’s enough in everything else.
I’m pretty convinced the biggest factor was stress. Coming to terms with my daughter getting ready to come for a stay and changing jobs have led to a damn near complete stop of the events. Following and listening your heart is no bullshit. Since leaving the assholes of the evil dot com and taking a spot at a dot org I have had ZERO heart events.
I also dropped my kettlebell out of fear of adding stress so my activity level since February has been that of a house cat. Late last year I signed up for the Warrior Dash just to prove I could do it and have some fun. With the life changes I was real close to bailing out and just having a few days in the mountains. A friend of mine urged me to go ahead and do it. So I did. I’m proud of me. I never thought I’d get over that wall and yet I crushed it. I faced neck deep water too and for a grown ass man who can’t swim it’s a big deal.
Now I’m charged up and motivated. I’ve done about 400 swings this week with no ill effects. This is a sign of things to come.
I understand this post is a bit all over the place but so what who cares? Lots of #nothing to come.
I’ve been slacking on the KB lately due to my heart and the new baby being a fresh new batch of stress on me. I decided to fight through it and try this set of workouts I got from a pal. It’s loosely based on Kettlebell Burn. Loosely because I can’t quite hang with the pace yet.
Session A is TGUs, goblet squats, arm rows, and swings. You get 15 minutes for TGUs left and right, I got 14 on each side with my 20 pound in 14 minutes 27 seconds. Goblets and rows. These freaking hurt, as you alternate sets of 10 for 15 minutes. I got 40 goblets, 40 left rows, and 40 right rows with the 35 pounder in 14 minutes and 37 seconds. For swings you get 10 minutes, 20 seconds work, 40 seconds rest. I got 130 with the pood.
I am smoked, even my ankles are shivering. Good stuff.
Well it started out hard and got easier. 200 swings a day, for the weekdays in January. I did it. I skipped a day but made it up. I also got 200 in under ten minutes most days, that’s supposed to be badass. Too bad I won’t actually finish.
Yesterday I had a weird erratic flutter or skip in my heartbeat, it carried over to today and bothered me enough to go get checked out. As you know when you take your car in for a tick the mechanic never hears it, so was the case at the doctor. They did an EKG and I have to go get a monitor tomorrow to wear for a few days. Just my luck. With that looming over my head I opt out of doing the last day of swings.
4,278 total swings.
Pressed on, besides the fact that my day job really drug me down. My 3rd 24 hour fast this week paired with the swings, I nailed 241 in 10 minutes flat. 101 2 handed type and 70 each on the left and right. I’ll add I dropped 100 in the first 3 minutes and 35 seconds. The remainder was small breaks and swings. I’m pretty sure there are better people out there who do more but I’m feeling great doing this fasted.
I am glad that Monday will be the last day of this. I am getting bored doing just swings. February marks the start of some running or sprinting as well me going back to RKC minimums week one to see if I improved on that. I hope to bike some more too as the days are finally getting longer. The running is for Warrior Dash in May. We shall see. The Cult-Ceremony
